Kate Middleton Waves the Flag for Canada in a Surprisingly Fashion-Forward Way
VogueKate Middleton is not your typical duchess. She regularly scoops affordable pieces from British high street stores, while still managing to look polished for a broad spectrum of royal engagements. And yesterday, on her second day of a week-long trip to Canada, Middleton showed the extent of her sartorial range, paying homage to the North American country with a chic red-and-white Alexander McQueen dress. It was a nice departure from her demure arrival outfit, a royal blue body-skimming sheath from Jenny Packham, and came accessorized with an added Canadian twist: a diamond maple leaf brooch on loan from the Queen. The mandarin collar was a new silhouette for Middleton who favors crewneck styles, as was the double peplum skirt. Overall, the look was a fashion-forward answer to her ladylike sense of style.
