Commissioned by a collector, the Rolls-Royce Ghost Elegance is the first luxury car finished with a paint that incorporates 1000 crushed diamonds. The ethically sourced diamonds went through extensive testing to ensure their radiance when incorporated in paint. Goodwood’s Technical Lab Leader, Paolo Travaglia, and his team of paint specialists, Rawdon Evernden and Joseph Piotrowski, spent two months testing to create this new paint, named Diamond Stardust. An extra layer of lacquer was required to protect the diamond particles during the hand-polishing process, adding an extra two days of paint application by hand and a further day of finishing. In the end, the paint is smooth and the diamonds are undetectable to the touch.
