As part of its 110th anniversary, German manufacturer Montblanc is launching the “Montblanc Heritage Collection, Rouge & Noir, The Serpent Limited Editions” – a collection of four diamond-studded pens that pay tribute to the design of the serpent clip of the Montblanc 1920s writing instrument.
The Rouge & Noir Ultimate Serpent Limited Edition 1 is extremely limited, as only one pen was manufactured. It costs $1.36 million and weighs 130g, with 99g of rose gold - the highest amount of gold ever used in the manufacturing of a Montblanc fountain pen. The cap and barrel are set with 15.34 carats of dark blue sapphires forming the backdrop for the coiling hand-engraved serpent, which features 153 individually cut diamonds. When the cap is removed, a second serpent is visible on the rose gold nib, with two rubies set as eyes. The cap crown glows with a 6.15-carat Montblanc Diamond.
The Montblanc Imperial Serpent Limited Edition 3 (limited to just three pieces) features the serpent engraved in solid white ruthenium-coated gold filigree, set with 55 individually cut diamonds. The crown is adorned with a 2.25-carat Montblanc Diamond.
In the Montblanc Royal Serpent Limited Edition 10, the serpent is set with individually cut diamonds and rubies, while the Montblanc emblem is set with a pavé of 72 diamonds crowning the writing instrument.
Completing the collection is The Serpent Limited Edition 110, where the eyes of the snake stand out in red rubies on both the clip and the white gold nib of the writing instrument.
