Madonna Wears a 400-Carat Headpiece at the 2016 Met Gala

It may be hard to stand out at the most important event of the fashion world, but trust Madonna to pull all the stops: At the 2016 Met Gala on May 2, the queen of pop rocked a black Givenchy which left her buttocks and breasts (almost) bare. She also wore an intricate jewelry design.
According to jewelry designer Neil Lane, who spoke to Page Six, Madonna wore his bejeweled accessories not quite in the way he expected: “It was a theme about a 19th century pre-Raphaelite idea, but of course with Madonna she’s going to take it to an extreme and to an amazing, creative level,” he told the website. He added that he presented Madonna’s people with chains, but “where they put it was up to them. It was a great surprise for me when Madonna walked on the red carpet and I saw what she’s done with my stuff.”
While Lane did not reveal the exact value of the chain, he did say it consisted of 400 carat worth of diamonds worth “several millions.”
