Will touchscreens evolve into “touchskins”? Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have recently unveiled the first skin-based wearable interface. According to Mashable.com, the device has a tiny screen, and is operated by turning the user's forearm and the back of his/her hand into a touch interface.

The device, named SkinTrack, consists of a signal-emitting ring and a sensing smartwatch band. The built-in sensors on the band can read with up to 99% accuracy where on the skin the user is touching.

In a video demonstration, the researchers were able to make gestures, make phone calls and play music.
