Harry Winston Presents a Diamond Studded “Year of the Monkey” Watch

On the Chinese calendar, 2016 is a year of the Monkey. It starts February 8 (Chinese New Year) and ends on January 27, 2017 (Chinese New Year's). In honor of the occasion, Harry Winston has unveiled the Premier Monkey Automatic 36mm as part of its Premier Collection.
The design features a delicate yellow gold monkey suspended from an emerald-cut diamond and set against a mother-of-pearl dial enhanced with 24-karat gold accents. The monkey itself is done in 18-karat gold and is adorned with a round brilliant diamond eye. The gold work recalls a Chinese art form known as Jianzhi, which has been used for centuries “to convey lifelong prosperity”, according to the company.
The 36mm 18-karat rose gold watch is set with 76 brilliant-cut diamonds, totaling 2.56 carats. It is powered with a mechanical automatic movement that consists of 186 parts, including a flat silicon balance spring for optimal precision. Only eight available pieces will be made, and although the price is yet to be revealed, you can expect to part with a hefty sum for the new Harry Winston monkey piece.
