Kate Middleton’s Gorgeous Red Dress Is Already Sold Out

Kate Middleton’s Gorgeous Red Dress Is Already Sold Out

Just call her “Kate the Great.” After stepping up her fashion game this weekend on a royal tour of Canada with a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen red-and-white dress, Kate Middleton pulled an eye-catching lady-in-red moment earlier today with Preen by Thornton Bregazzi’s scarlet stretch-crêpe dress—a style which has, unsurprisingly, already sold out. It’s an unusually bold turn for Middleton who favors demure and conservative evening dresses from Jenny Packham and Issa. The risk paid off, though: The resulting look was equal parts regal and glamorous. Attending a cocktail reception at Government House in Victoria tonight, Middleton focused on a streamlined, monochromatic aesthetic. A textured burgundy clutch added subtle shine, while suede pumps grounded the evening outfit with subdued sophistication. But she wouldn’t be a duchess without some antique (and borrowed!) jewels. On loan from the Queen, the leaf diamond brooch she wore casually over the weekend hit just below Middleton’s shoulder strap tonight for a dash of dazzle, while Soru Jewellery’s pearl-and-Swarovski-crystal-trimmed drop earrings provided elegant and affordable sparkles.
