Cate Blanchett Is the First Celebrity to Wear Gucci Spring 2017—And It’s Amazing
VogueGucci’s Spring 2017 collection walked in Milan just 14 days ago; today, it’s walking on the back of one Ms. Cate Blanchett. The Oscar winning actress wore Look 74 from the brand’s recent collection, an ivory and black silk wool gazar gown, to an IWC Gala Dinner in honor of the British Film Institute in London. The ensemble makes her the first person spotted in Alessandro Michele’s newest collection on the red carpet. Props to Blanchett and her stylist Elizabeth Stewart for getting out in front of what is sure to be one of the season’s most-worn collections, and also for choosing such a daring look. On the runway, the red belted dress was worn with a host of small rings and bracelets and burgundy shoes. Blanchett opted for a black bracelet and a couple of animal-shaped Gucci rings. Of course, it’s hardly the subtle accessories that help the actress pull off such a daring dress—that ability might just be a gift.
