Naturally, when you’re out to make a superstar impression on MTV or Vevo, a basic wardrobe just won’t do, which is why he opted for only the flashiest pieces. The clip—which opens with him putting on layer upon layer of jewelry, including a Medusa gold chain and diamond-encrusted pinky ring, and features a private jet—is a tribute to the lavish life of a chart-topper. What Mars’s on-screen look lacks in subtlety, it more than makes up for in vintage Versace pieces. The singer and his squad sport silk shirts and bomber jackets covered in the house’s signature baroque prints, as they live it up in Las Vegas Jet Skiing through the Bellagio fountain and playing roulette. The Versace ensembles aren’t limited to the club, either—at one point, the whole gang changes into bathrobes and pajamas from Donatella’s loungewear line. The Italian house has always had a special place in music, and artists such as Tupac, Lady Gaga, and M.I.A. have embraced its decadent and unapologetically sexy aesthetic over the years.
