Last night, Moda Operandi opened the doors to its appointment-only showroom on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for a festive holiday party that served to kick off the giving (and shopping!) season. There, among a curated selection of products from the retailer’s gift guide—which includes everything from a Louis Vuitton suitcase emblazoned with a $ (“For your dealer” read the corresponding sign) to a luxe backgammon board with a stunning safari motif—Tory Burch, Fabiola Beracasa Beckman, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Derek Blasberg, and more sipped on Champagne cocktails as they roamed between the two floors. On the first level of the historic townhouse, oversize stuffed animals by Hansa Toys—which have become somewhat synonymous with Moda, as the cheetahs are an often-Instagrammed staple in the London showroom—sprinkled rooms decorated in fresh-feeling peaches and greens. Up one step, and you entered the fur room, where one could hear Moda cofounder, frontwoman, and Vogue Contributing Editor Lauren Santo Domingo walking a guest through the attributes of a long Color Temperature mink coat. Through a hallway and you were in the jewelry wing, where antique cases displayed vintage pieces. Downstairs, a very authentic-looking Santa Claus was ensconced in a corner and a band played, while partygoers checked out the Master & Dynamic headphones, a model car with a decanter and highball glasses inside, and the sparkly Rebecca de Ravenel earrings on offer—all well worth adding to one’s wish list!
