“It’s such an honor to have Denise Rich and her foundation honor Robert [Kardashian] tonight,” said Kris Jenner in a floor-skimming dress that offered hints of skin from Zuhair Murad. “I feel very, very blessed.” Jenner also shared her Thanksgiving plans. “Just at home with the family, very exciting,” she said with a laugh. And while most might think Mondays in New York City aren’t exciting, last night’s Angel Ball brought the glitz, glamour, and drama. As Jenner and daughters Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian arrived, a slew of anti-fur protestors stampeded the press area, causing security to go into overdrive. While the guests remained cool, calm, and collected, it proved to be a bumpy start to the night. However, the interruption was quickly erased as a slew of models including Andreja Pejic, Lily Donaldson, and Shanina Shaik cascaded on the red carpet in daring dresses—given the freezing temperature—before racing inside to warm up. “I’m lucky I have this very warm coat,” said Dee Hilfiger in a pleated Alexander McQueen dress punctuated with a vintage feather fur topper. “I think you do the best you can and get as quickly as you can from the car to the venue—just suck it up and do it!” she added with a laugh. Inside Cipriani Wall Street, attendees included Hugh Jackman and wife Deborra-Lee Furness; Donna Karan; and Cee Lo Green, joined by fiancée Shani James. “I usually get led by him,” said James in a vintage Gina Fratini Angel dress on how she gets dressed for special occasions. “I picked this first and then he had his made custom.” Green, dressed in a coordinating bespoke velour suit punctuated with embellishments at the neck, added: “I like to be comfortable.” Does the duo have any fun plans for Thanksgiving? “We’re going to eat our way through it,” said James. “We usually have two or three visits, [so] a lot of to-go plates and aluminum foil,” said Green. That sentiment was shared by fashion industry icon Donna Karan, who plans to be with family this week. “I love the Thanksgiving Day Parade,” said Karan. “It’s one of my favorite things in the world.” Any signature dishes? “Not turkey,” she said with a laugh.

The organization, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, hits home for founder Rich, who started Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation in honor of her daughter, who succumbed to leukemia. Her hope? “I’m really proud of what we’re doing and how far we’ve come,” said Rich in a dazzling Gucci dress punctuated with Lorraine Schwartz ruby earrings. “We’ve funded more than 200 researchers and given away over $28 million. I think one day I’ll just be doing a party.” Certainly worth toasting.
