Kate Middleton Strikes Fashion Gold Twice in One Day

Keeping up with a calendar filled with royal engagements isn’t easy, especially if, like Kate Middleton, your every look will be scrutinized. The duchess showed that she is more than up for the challenge today, hosting a children’s tea for the Natural History Museum in London. Keeping things lively for the morning, Middleton slipped on a billowy L.K. Bennett dress that was covered in a charming microprint. She changed tack for an event across town later that day, donning an elegant black frock from Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and proving she can strike fashion gold twice in the same day. The L.K. Bennett dress, which retails for under $500, was reminiscent of looks Middleton has sported from Alexander McQueen and Kate Spade in the past, and featured a keyhole neckline and delicate pleats. But it was with evening that Middleton really let her royal flag fly, in a classic LBD. If the dress appeared familiar, it was because she’d worn a version of it on her tour of Canada in September—in case you were wondering, the look has since sold out. And while Middleton might have sported a diamond maple leaf brooch to accent her dress then, tonight she chose an embellished buckle belt instead.
