Ode to Bohemian Garnets
Ageless HeirloomsWith January coming to a close, I thought what better time than now to highlight some of my favorite antique garnet pieces. There is something about a very deep, flashy Victorian garnet heirloom that warms me up during what feels like negative 25 degree weather. Fun fact: The availability of the deep dark bohemian garnet spiked with the discovery of vast amounts of bohemian garnet in Central Europe around 1500. Bohemian garnet mining and manufacturing centered around these deposits and reached its height in the late 1800s. Updated on 1/23/17 from a post originally published 1/24/14.
