Piece of the Week: Taxco Necklace, Bracelet & Earrings
IsadorasTaxco, Mexico has long been revered for its legacy of fine silversmiths. The antique silver pieces from this community are identifiably bold and expressive, whimsical and organic, and highly collectable.
Our Piece of the Week is a striking Taxco silver necklace, bracelet, and earring set accented by vibrant blue glass.
Whether you wear the set in its entirely, or the choose to wear the pieces by themselves, we can tell you from experience that you will adore this jewelry.
This Taxco necklace is beautiful on its own, and it also works well as a stylish layering piece.
Due to the influence of Frederick W. Davis’s artist community and William Spratling’s artist colony, some of the most incredible silver jewelry came out of Mexico in the 1920s and 1930s.
Silver production in Mexico flourished during World War II and Taxco became similar to Paris of the 1920s – famous actors, writers, and politicians were drawn to the area to experience its je ne sais quoi.
With artists like Hector Aguilar, The Castillo Brothers, Margot de Taxco, and Antonio Pineda, the Mexican silver jewelry community created necklaces, earrings, brooches, and bracelets that were truly wearable art.
Below is a photo of Antonio Pineda with a model wearing his body art.
We hope you love these beautiful Mexican silver pieces as much as we do.
