Every Wednesday, 1stdibs.com uploads new estate jewelry to their site that its vendors have loaded onto their individual accounts.  A much-anticipated midweek event, I always look forward to seeing what wonderful new estate pieces have been added to the endless amount of exquisite jewelry the stores on this great site have to offer.  In essence, the site serves as a vast treasure trove of historical, one-of-a-kind pieces that one could typically find at the finest auction houses. Here are my favorites from today’s uploads: Suzanne Belperron Diamond and Platinum Foliate Necklace Suzanne Belperron (1900-1983) is known for her experimentation with textures new and old, organically-shaped carved stones, and soft lines evoking the delicacy of nature, all of which broke sharply with the rigid lines championed by the Art Deco designs of the times.  Though she never signed any of her pieces, her unique style seen in her jewelry is her signature.  My favorite aspect about her as a designer is how softly the lines in her pieces create the rounded shapes, likes waves quietly billowing over a calm water, with the numerous circular gem stones accentuating the overall fluidity of each piece.  This necklace is a great example of her […]
