For many people, a picture-perfect wedding is something that has been dreamed about since early childhood. For many brides, every detail has been poured over from a young age – from the cake to the venue and, most importantly, the dress! These fantasies are often inspired by the weddings we have seen in the world of film and television. In honour of this, we have put together a list of some of the most famous (and infamous) weddings from the small and big screens. How many of them can you remember?

Ross and Emily – Friends

Ah, Friends. One of the most iconic television shows of the 90s and early 00s was also the home of some of the most iconic fictional couples. Chandler and Monica, Ross and Rachel, Joey and pizza (or sandwiches) – the list goes on. But who can forget Ross and Emily’s wedding? Poor Ross always seems to be his own worst enemy when it comes to love and this episode was no different. If anything can be learnt from Ross’s experience(s) with weddings, it should certainly be the importance of not mixing up your wife-to-be’s name (Emily) with that of your former lover (Rachel) as you are about to exchange vows!

Connie and Carlo – The Godfather

The opening sequence of The Godfather, which is set at the wedding of Connie and Carlo, has been hailed as one of the most iconic movie openings of all time. Ask any movie buff what they think the most iconic film weddings of all time are, and the wedding of Connie and Carlo is sure to appear on top.

Juliet and Peter – Love Actually

Love Actually is one of the most famous romantic comedies ever and is a must-watch at Christmas time. It also features one of the most picture-perfect weddings to ever grace our screens. What bride wouldn’t want to walk down the aisle in the company of all her close friends and family while a surprise singer, band and choir perform a heartwarming rendition of The Beatles’ ‘All You Need is Love’? Yes, please!

The Red Wedding – Game of Thrones

The Red Wedding is arguably one of the most infamous television episodes of recent, if not all time. It is certainly not how you would want your wedding to turn out, and the details of the wedding probably aren’t suitable to repeat here. Any Game of Thrones fans out there will certainly know why!

Jim and Pam – The Office

Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly are arguably one of the most-loved couples on television. Even before they started dating in the fourth season of the show, their relationship was nothing but charming. In true ‘Office’ fashion, their eventual wedding doesn’t exactly go to plan, with Jim accidentally revealing that Pam is pregnant, and the couple running off to get married in secret under Niagara Falls to escape the craziness of their actual wedding. They do eventually return, however, and all ends happily – even though the office employees hilariously re-enact the JK Wedding Entrance Dance after specifically being told not to!
